It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Shannon Sharp

Our first Broncos regular season home game!  When you have to pay for your tickets in April but don’t get to enjoy the games until September it makes for a long wait.

Rachel called me and said that her and Garrett were going to the game also.  Garrett knew where the seats were because he had gone with Kit before so they came over before the start of the game to say hello.

Shannon Sharp was being inducted into the Ring of Fame.  We heard a rumor that Shannon Sharp would be sky diving into the stadium along with several other sky divers.

I didn’t believe it until the cameras focused in on his smiling face as he was floating down to the field.

What a beautiful day for football!

Especially ending it with a 27-6 win over the Cleveland Browns.  That puts us at a 2-0 start for our season…way to go My Little Ponies!

Derrick’s Sprint

Derrick and Floyd have been training all summer for a triathlon.  They did the Oktoberfest Sprint in Longmont.  The Sprint consists of a 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.  I arrived bright and early to make sure that I was there on time to take some pictures of the course.

I think I had more nerves than Derrick and Floyd combined.  I was so excited for them!

The night before I had Kit help me color my sign to show my support.  I am pretty sure I was the only person with a sign, the loudest person cheering, and the only one running along side the competitors to get some action shots.

Floyd ended up getting pulled out of the race at the beginning in the swim because he got kicked in the head and felt dizzy.  The race officials wouldn’t allow him to continue with the race.  We all waited anxiously for Derrick to show up to cheer him on through the finish line.

I am so proud of him for all the hard work and dedication he put in to this triathlon.  I know that this is just his start and he will continue on.  Maybe some day I will cheer him on at an Iron Man?!?

Labor Day Picnic ‘09

It’s time for the annual Hart Family Labor Day Picnic!

Every year we get together for some fried chicken and other various yummy dishes, pot luck style.

Everyone from the Hart Family has a good competitive nature to them, a family I fit right in with!  We play games every year when we get together.

Some Bocce Ball and Holey Board, all served with a good dose of smack talking.

Christy and Matt were the Holey Board champions of the day.

I look forward to Labor Day every year, knowing I get to see the whole family and enjoy some games to close the summer out.  We had a few missing members this year that were sorely missed, hope next year we can all shoot for perfect attendance!

Sunday Baseball

We got a bunch of tickets to The Rockies so we wanted to take Holly for her Birthday. Of course we had to meet up at the folks house for some pre-game mimosas. We also got to hang out with Holly and Bryce’s new super cute puppy, Dexter.

It was another beautiful day in Colorado, perfect baseball weather.

It wouldn’t be a family affair without The Ninja.

The Rockies were playing the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks. We were sitting in left field and got to heckle Eric Byrnes all game. At one point he looked up and gave head nod. You have to respect him being a good sport. The Rockies won this slugfest 13-5, in a game where there were 8 home runs, 2 by Rockies’ Seth Smith and 3 of them by Arizona’s Chris Young.

Early Tee Time

Now that I have had a chance to play real golf I wasn’t so nervous to try again.  Kit took me to Twin Peaks golf course in Longmont for an early morning tee time.  It was quite pretty that early in the morning, I even think there may have been a little frost as we got started.

I started to get a little nervous as I realize that this place was much more professional looking than Haystack had been.  I was worried I might make a fool out of myslef.

Kit gave me some good advice at the beginning of the day; Just try for 5 good shots today.  It really took the pressure off from trying to be perfect every time.

Besides, who was I kidding?  I was golfing with Kit.  We had a blast and laughed a ton.

The Return Of Jay “Sugar” Cutler

Being that we are itching for winter this year when football preseason started we knew we were one step closer.  I don’t think I have ever been so excited for a preseason game before.  I was stoked to go and boo Jay “Sugar” Cutler and the Chicago Bears.

We were pleasantly surprised to see what our fellow fans had done with their number 6 Cutler jerseys.

It was a nice day and fun to get outside and cheer for the Broncos.  We were in good company, it was the loudest preseason game I have ever attended.  The crowd was fired up and ready to charge into the new season.

We left a little early and the Broncos ended up losing.  Glad it’s only preseason and doesn’t really count.

Carter Lake

While Mary was in town we decided to bring some of my Dad’s ashes up to Carter Lake where Derrick and I grew up sailing.  We had all prepared ourselves for an emotional day.  This would be our first time doing anything with any of my Dad’s ashes.  When we got up to Carter Lake we went for a short walk to a point overlooking the water.  We each took a handful of ashes and let them blow off into the wind.  I’m pretty sure some of the ashes were stuck underneath my finger nails and I ended up picking my nose and getting some of dad stuck up there.  How appropriate!  I feel like this is one of many steps that the family will take in grieving may dad’s death.  Now when I miss him I can cruise up to the lake and say hey.

Rockies Game With Mary

With Annika’s Bonus Mom in town we thought it would be an excellent time to get everyone together and head down to Denver to catch a Rockies game.  It seems like all people who come to Colorado for a visit get taken to a Rockies game, so why not take Mary too!

It was a another gorgeous night for baseball, too bad the Rockies lost to The Giants 6-3.

Haystack

My goal this summer was to go play actual golf.  I have put in some practice time at the driving range, I am also pretty good at indoor golf in our living room.  I was excited when Brenda said we should go play golf while she was visiting Colorado.  At first I said “ok, that sounds like a great idea”.  Then she asked me to call and set a tee-time and I realized she meant REAL golf!  She was in for a treat…

At least I got to wear my cute golf skirt…and learned how to bend the rules of golf to make it a bit more fun.

Brenda had to fish a few of her own balls out from under the trees, let’s just say I was in good company.

Rockies Game With Brenda

My girlfriend, Brenda, that lives in Reno was in town for a week.  She is a big sports nut, including a fan of The Rockies.

Good ol’ King Soopers and their $10 tickets have made our partaking in a lot of America’s favorite past-time possible.

What better way to catch up than at a baseball game with some hotdogs and brews.
